Just some pictures...

Earlier this week Brian and I decided to watch a movie. So Brian goes out to rent it and comes back with DVD in tow. About 5 minutes later he tells me "we rented a D-V-D!" Both of us realized at the exact same moment that our DVD player had just died two days earlier!! Hilarious!

Gwen is pulling herself up to standing all the time already! She couldn't resist a little blues clues action with Naomi.  Naomi makes them both wear these skirts everyday so they came both be mermaids!

Thermal Meltdown because Mommy looked at her and did not pick her up!

Clapping - even with green squishy thing in her hands!

What Mommy?

Easter Events

We had a nice easter that we were able to share with lots of Brian's family. We got a large ham with some wonderful sides! In attendance were Brian's brothers Tim, Tracy, and Adam, Adam's girlfriend Hannah, and cousin Allison with her new husband Michael, and cousin Chris with his wife Colleen. It was a boisterous event! Though I thought to take a picture of everyone together, the thought quickly fled my mind and didn't happen! I should have also taken a picture of the post party mess! Its amazing to me that even though we were only in the living/dining/kitchen area, the entire house was destroyed! However, I do have pictures of Naomi and Gwen's Easter dresses as well as Naomi's first outside Easter egg hunt. Its always been rainy for her hunts! She would crack up laughing every single time she saw a new egg! Happens every year too!

There are lots more Easter pictures here:

Click on the picture of Gwen's fat lip to go to our picasa album. That was Gwen's face during the entire Egg dying process.

Gwen is officially crawling, and I'd like to say for the record that this is way too young! I'm in no way prepared for a crawler! Its amazing to me!

The only way to keep Gwen secure so we can do things that shouldn't involve her. At least she loves it!

Princess Tea Party

Gwenie was forced - I mean invited- to her first princess dress up tea party by Naomi.

Gwen is crawling at a snails pace. She'll go about two feet, flop down, and start to cry because I don't pick her up. She will even hold herself in the crawl position and cry while waving her hand at me to "come here!" She just barely cut two more top teeth yesterday, and I'm pretty sure there are at least two more waiting to come through very soon.

Today is my 27th birthday. Not sure what I will be doing today. I bought myself a new dress for Easter. I will be getting new shoes today to match. Tomorrow I get my hair cut - those are my birthday gifts - mostly to myself. We are planning a big Easter dinner with some of Brian's family for Sunday. We'll be doing the ham and mashed potatoes, I'm going to make rolls!! The whole shebang!

Happy Spring and Early Happy Easter

Our house....as we are moving in about a month

I love to decorate! Its my one hobby, and Brian never counts it as a hobby for some reason. But anyway, here is where we are currently living. I thought it'd be nice to show anyone who may not have seen it before. And then we will move!

America's Best Dance Crew and a little American Idol

We recently blocked most of the cable channels we get, but we unblock MTV on Thursday nights to watch America's Best Dance Crew! BEST REALITY SHOW EVER! Of course I found out about it from Ellen when she had the JabbaWockeeZ on her show. Brian and I checked out this new show and discovered that it is AWESOME! 12 dance crews come together to battle it out! Its even more intense for us than American Idol. That can get pretty intense, but I actually broke out in applause at the end of Status Quo's performance. Brian laughed at me! We love JabbaWockeez and Kaba Modern and were so happy to finally see Fysh n Chicks leave. They just were as sharp as the other groups. JabbaWockeez wear masks and gloves every time to emphasize their crisp hand movements. And its amazing how that really makes them look like a whole when they perform. You can see their faces and you can't even tell if they are boys or girls! Excellent! Still depressed that Live in Color went before Fysh n Chicks. Both of us are hoping that BreakSk8 will go this week. We realize that some of them are good dancers, but the roller skates are just too eighties for us! At least for this competition!

As far as American Idol goes this year...we are really impressed with the competitors. I love Brooke White and David Archuleta. She is fun, and he is just adorable and wonderful! I love how after everytime that he sings he looks as though he is about to cry! So cute! And I think its ok because he is fantastic! I also really enjoy Carly Smithson because she is awesome too. So happy that the people who should go are actually getting voted off this year...thus far! Jason Castro is another one of our favorites. Although I doubt he'll actually win, I think he will do something great afterwards. And isn't Michael Johns just dreamy - not the best singer on the show, but worth looking at. I'm shocked and surprised that at this time the only person I really WANT to go is Amanda Overmeyer. Anyone like her? I'd really and truly like to know what it is that you like about her. Let me know.

Product Endorsement

Miracle of Miracles! I think I have found a laundry detergent that works miracles! My 7 month old still has the occasional diaper leak, and as anyone who has children knows, those DON"T come out! Unless of course you Shout it immediately and pop it directly into the wash! I rarely do that unless its a precious item. However two days ago Gwen had a diaper leak on her cute pink pants that are too big, but I can't help myself but to put her in them. So I meant to pop it right into the wash, but didn't get around to it. So today, I Shouted the pants, and only rubbed gently because I assumed they were lost. I threw them in with the other items and added my new Method detergent (its supposed to be eco-friendly as well!). When they came out of the wash and the dryer there was no spot at all!! I'm sure the Shout helped a little, but when I used Gain it didn't get baby stains out! So everyone go buy Method laundry detergent! Its sold at Target! I've also tried their dish detergent, but don't like it as much. (they all smell good though!)

Sorry, my whole life i have been exclamation happy!

This past week Little Gwen made me think she had an earache. This would have (cross your fingers) been our first earache ever for our kids! We are really blessed for that! Anyway, she was extremely fussy and flipping at her ears and just getting over a pretty bad cold/flu thing that Naomi and her had for about two weeks. No fever, but I made an appointment to be safe. I took her to our doctor but our normal doctor was out sick. We saw someone else who cleaned the wax out of her ears with those horrible metal scrapey things and then told us that her ears looked clear. That was quite a relief until the next night when she woke up from sleep at around 10pm crying (that is abnormal, but not distinguishably strange). A little while later we noticed she was bleeding from her right ear (not even the ear I took her in for). I was freaked out! So Brian called the doctor and calmly asked what to do. They said most likely it was a ruptured ear drum but there was nothing to do tonight - bring her in to the weekend clinic in the morning. So I barely slept and was also upset that Brian  had not been freaking out like me (turns out her was trying to stay calm - it just came across as not caring). I took her in and this lovely very pregnant nurse practioner checked her ears and told me that it wasn't the eardrum, but she has a scratch in the back of her ear. OBVIOUSLY, the doctor had scratched her when he took out the wax right?? Well she said that he didn't make a note so she doesn't know how Gwen could have done that to herself. (she didn't!) But thank goodness it was not a ruptured eardrum! We are still earache free!

So you say, why the endless crying and fussing? Its a phase - she is suffering from stranger danger! Severely! At least I hope its a phase. She even cries when Brian has her. People she doesn't know can't even look at her. Yet they all make it worse by trying to comfort her assuming she is just fussing, but really she is saying, "Get the crap away from me you person who is about to kill me I think!" But no one listens! Even when I say she is just afraid of people she doesn't know right now - including her Dad! And Naomi! So maybe its more "Nobody touch me or look at me, but Mom stage". Oh well, at least we aren't sick this week.

I really love our new ward! We switched to the family ward the first week of January so that Naomi could be in a real primary. She loves primary, I love the Relief Society because it is small and manageable, I know Brian at least likes the ward, but I don't think he is in love yet. I like to feel like I can do something in a ward to make a small difference. This ward allows me to do that. We received callings our second week in - I am a Relief Society teacher for the fourth Sunday of each month. The Laurels come in for the lesson and I really enjoyed that - I thought that I wouldn't! Brian is the Executive Secretary for the Elders Quorum. Anyway, I have learned that if I see a need I will fill it. If I don't see a need I'm just going to sit and listen and not even want to be there. I struggled to go in our old ward. And with kids its hard because half the time someone is sick so everyone assumes you are inactive - I refuse to take a sick kid into nursery or primary because every other week we are sick because someone brought their sick kid into primary! So we are typically inactive! However our new ward - there are visible needs! This week is Enrichment so I am volunteering for everything! There are 8 people making a Blueberry Buckle for the dessert so I volunteered to purchase the ingredients and put them into kits and deliver them to the sisters so they can make them at home, but not be put out by having to purchase things. I also just got home from delivering all of the reminders to the sisters doors, very fun because we walked in the beautiful weather we are having right now! And this month I get to teach a cooking club! I get to pick the style of food we are doing and teach a tip to everyone! Its so fun!

But then come May we are moving to a new place with a new ward! I just hope Brian will remind me that I like to be involved and not just sit by while everyone else helps out!
