I want to have at least two work spaces. I need quite a bit of storage for the craft stuff and coloring books and office supplies. I have it all dreamed up from the pottery barn catalog, but obviously I cannot afford a pottery barn office. I want something that is able to be out in our living room though; it can't look too officey. It has to have a little class and be totally organized. So I am asking for some tips or advice on what might work.
Here is the location for the future office set up:

One of my dilemma's is that I am always drawn to a white office. Every one of my dream offices is white desk and storage etc. However, we don't have any white furniture in our living area. I don't know if I can mix it properly to get a good look or if it will totally stand out against the rest of the room and look awkward or worse, cheap! We plan to paint the walls a blue grey. And we are keeping this tv stand:

Because of the price point I am turning to Ikea as my most possible solution. They have a corner desk that will fit right in there. Any ideas? I am worried that I am looking at this from just my view point and not seeing the whole picture.
I am planning on these to use as legs for the desk:http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bush-Stockport-Collection-3-Drawer-File-Pedestal/13062139
Any ideas??

I really love the lime green one - I'm confident that you'll find the PERFECT solution.
Maybe you could think about having the dark wood on the bottom (like the desk and file drawers), and white for the units you hang on the wall. You could tie it in with white picture frames in another part of the room, maybe with some of the girls' art inside. Plus, your trim is white, so it can look cohesive. I have a unit on my wall with doors that close, but for crafts, I think maybe open storage with cute bins that you can pull down with all the different supplies in it.
Also, did you watch the HGtv Green Home? They had those tables on castors that stored under the desk and rolled out. I thought that would be an awesome solution for the girls to do crafts.
Jennifer, I love your idea. I sat down right away and drew up an idea based on the white on top. When I showed it to Brian, he doesn't want to hang shelves on the wall so it won't look too much like an office. Annoying. So back to the drawing board.
Boo on Brian. He should have no say. Get someone else to hang them.
He always says, "I really don't care what you do with the house. The details don't worry me." Then, I ask questions, what about this? What about that? Still doesn't care. Finally I come up with an idea, and then suddenly he cares. Still doesn't want to put in any input, but doesn't want what I came up with. STinko!
Been there. Sometimes he does best when he just sees the finished product. He usually is fine with it then.
